Jennifer L. Jordan - lesbian author - lesbian writer - lesbian stories
I’ve made my living as a writer since I was twenty-one years old, when I opened my own marketing and communications firm. Nearly twenty-five years later, I’ve reinvented myself several times.
I’ve produced newsletters for dentists and taught women on welfare how to run their own small businesses. I’ve created 3,000+ marketing projects and sold more than $1.5 million dollars worth of my technical writing. I’ve invented systems to make everything I do more efficient and helped more than 1,500 people become entrepreneurs. I’ve lived the dream of being my own boss almost every day of my adult life and self-published my first two lesbian books. I’ve made a lot of money investing in real estate and virtually no money writing lesbian fiction.
But writing lesbian novels is all I ever wanted to do, and it’s all I ever want mentioned on my gravestone, so I keep doing it.
I currently own a website development company, and I spend two days per week counseling small business owners on topics ranging from marketing to finance, start-up to pricing. In between, I snowboard and cross-country ski and hike and mountain bike, and sometimes wonder what my life would have been like without this addiction to writing.
I live in Winter Park, Colorado and Denver, Colorado, splitting my time between the mountains and the metropolis, trading snowcapped mountain views for restaurant and movie choices, solitude for bustle.
A part of me resides in every character I’ve ever created, but for the record and the moment: I’ve put 90% of myself into Kristin Ashe, 50% of myself into Fran Green, and 20% into Destiny Greaves. Most days, particularly when I'm writing, those three women reside 100% in me.
